Students gathered for Betsy Ross’ Annual STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Night, October 14, 2015.
AudaciTech Aeriel Video and Photography attended treating magnet students to a drone demonstration. After an introduction to drone parts, remote and screen, students watched Drone Pilot Controller Geno Saenz III prepare for launch. The drone hummed in place.
A student yelled, “Is it a bee?”
Once the drone escaped over the rooftops of Betsy Ross Elementary heads were thrown back. Students watched the drone soar to the size of a dime. Each student took a guess of the drones elevation when it reached 300 feet.
The drone returned and hovered its position twenty feet above students for a group photo.
Emily Medrano, STEM Coordinator said “Many of the students have never seen a drone, this was a wonderful learning experience for them.”
Over 250 students left excited learning the possibilities of the imagination and importance of an education in science, technology, engineering, and math.
